First Market!

  Welcome back to the blog!
  This past weekend I had a very exciting event, my first market. I had been preparing for a couple weeks. I attended and vended at a local event in Millsap, Tx. Millsap is quite a small town with a population of 370 as of 2020. 



  This was put together by a local farmstand to celebrate their anniversary opening their shop Gramma's Baked Delights. It was so cute and even had AC which is a big must for Texas. The stand is owned by Marlene in Millsap where she creates and sells baked goods, canned and pickled items. There are too many goodies to list, but if you are ever nearby you need to make a pit stop to try something! 


  There were many other local venders at the event and they were all very kind. My booth neighbor was Hall's Wood working and he shared some very helpful information regarding a possible future market for me to attend. While it was a slow and hot day we still got to enjoy the event with small chatter among the vendors. The hosts were extremely helpful and even offered a fan due to the high temps being within 85°F-96°F.


  This being my very first market I had basically no expectations beyond showing up and doing my best to gain some experience for vending at an event. I have always only attended events and thought to myself "maybe one day I could be a vendor." After being on the other side of the curtain it really tested my endurance and my products. 


  Candles do basically one thing, MELT. I was unsure how long my candles could withstand the Texas heat but I knew I needed to know the limits. While testing my candles I also got to enjoy the experience a customer has interacting with my scents first hand. This market my best sellers were Sun-Kissed Orchard and Vanilla Bourbon. I got plenty of good remarks for my other scents too, but these seemed to be fan favorites. While I didn't sell out this was a great experience. Keep an eye out for future markets hopefully reoccurring ones to be able to connect more with the community and in person sales.
